Summary:
Here is a neat text effect that you can use in your graphic design projects. It is basically a step-by-step of how to apply a cracked texture to any style of font text that you have made in Photoshop.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open a New Document in Photoshop. 400×150 hieght/width.
2. Create a new layer. Name it “Crack Texture”.
3. Select the Paint Bucket tool. Fill in the “Crack Texture” layer with white.
4. Make sure foreground color is black and background color is white.
5. Goto Filter > Render > Clouds Difference.

6. Goto Filter > Texture > Craquelure. Set Crack Spacing to 16, Crack Depth to 8, Crack Brightness to 5. Click OK to accept.

7. Select the Type tool. Choose any font you desire. Type a word onto a new layer across the cracked texture.
8. Select the Magic Wand tool. Click outside of the text to select everything except the text.

9. Click on the “Eye” icon on the Layers Palette for the Type layer to hide it.
10. Click the “Crack Texture” layer the Layers Palette so that it is active.
11. Click the Delete key.

12. Feel free to right click the “Crack Texture” layer, select Blending Options, and then add any Blending Properties to the text to give it more interest. Such as a Drop Shadow or Bevel and Emboss effects.
