Here is a useful photo manipulation tutorial. Basically, this tutorial shows how to apply a skin disease or acne type condition to a skin surface in a photograph. Great for special effects editing.

12. “Texture” layer still active, goto Image > Adjustments > Color Balance. Adjust the RED sliders to the right for Shadows/Midtones/Highlights. This will give the texture a redish tint, so that it looks more like a rash or ugly skin disease.

13. Finally, goto Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. Move the Saturation and Lightness sliders to the left so that the texture blends better with the subject’s face.

3. Now that the extra fat part is gone but still you will find that it doesnt look very realistic. To make it look more real we would use Smudge tool.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open the image you want to apply this effect to. In my case it is a nice small southern church on warm sunny day:

2. Goto Layers and create a new layer. Fill the entire layer with black fill:

3. Goto Filter>Noise>Add Noise. Put noise amount up to 400%, check Gaussian and Monochromatic:

4. Goto Filter>Blur>Gaussian and set the radius to 1px. Your image will look close to this:

5. Go back to Filter>Blur>Motion Blur. At this time use the settings as shown on the image but you can also experiment with them and set it according to the strength of the rain effect you want to set:

6. Goto Layers palette and set blend mode of Layer1 to Screen:

7.We now have applied the rain effect over the image, but it looks more like a sun-shower than a heavy gloomy rain we’re looking for:

8. In Layers palette click on your background layer. Go to Image> Adjustments> Brightness/Contrast. Set Brightness to -25 and Contrast to -10. You can also go to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation and drop the Saturation done a little to create gray overcast effect:

9. We are now almost done but there are still some parts of the image that look a little too bright. Go to Layers palette, create new layer and set the blend mode to “overlay”. Select comfortable size brush and black fill color, set the opacity of brush to 50% and paint over the parts of the image that appear too bright:

10. As a last step you can select layer with rain effect on it, press Ctrl+M to call Curves dialog and make your rain a little more or less prominent. The finished image will look close to mine:

This tutorial shows how to do that. It’s also useful if you want to see how your own nails would look if they were longer.

Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open an image of the hands that you want to make the finger nails longer.

2. Select your Pen Tool and draw the shape as show in the picture. It dosent need to very similar but little close to it, so that we will get the proper nail shape.

3. Once you have created the shape, click on the layer “Shape 1” keeping CTRL button pressed. This way you select the outline, then you cancel the layer “Shape 1”. And select the image layer.

4. Now that we get the outline of the longer part of the nail, we need to fill it. To do so and to get the realistic look we will use Clone Stamp Tool. Now with this tool Set the sampling point by positioning the pointer on the nail as shown in the image and Alt-clicking (Windows) or Option-clicking (Mac OS) you pointer would change to this one when you press Alt.

5. Now drag over the inner area of the outline we have. Repate the same process untill you have fill the whole area properly. Remember we can always zoom-in and zoom-out(Ctrl + and Ctrl -) to get the closer look.

6. When you have finish with it, press Ctrl+D to deselect. Now that you will see it is not very perfect and doesnt look realistic and looks very odd. To make it little more better we will use the Blur Tool.

7. Set the blur tool size by simply pressing these keys on keyboard [ or ] to your convience. Now click and spread over the area which is little odd, you will find things getting little better. keep doing it till you find it perfect.

8. Now repeate the same steps for the rest of the nails.

Photoshop Tutorial

Summary:
In this tutorial, we will learn how to create a cell phone. This cell phone graphic can be used in the design of applications as well as graphic design projects. I hope you find it useful.

Step-By-Step Instructions:
In this tutorials we will learn how to make the stylish “chocolate” phone from LG.

1. Open a new document, 500×500 pixels and name it LG chocolate. The background can be any color, but white would be good.

2. Now We need to make a base for the phone. We will make it with the Rounded Rectangle
Tool with Radius 0.2in. You would have something like this. Fill with any color you like.

3. Next, in the layers toolbox, select this layer, and call it “phone base”. Now, double click on the layer in the toolbox, to bring up the layerstyle box. We need to give it a Bevel and Emboss and gradient to it. These are the setting we used.

For gradient we used the following settings:
The color of the right side needs to be: “3A3736”. The color of the left side needs to be: “141414”.

(The result should look like this)

4. Now draw another rectangle with the same Rounded Rectangle Tool but a little samller than the early one. Place it in this way so that we can fell the depth. And fill black color in it.

5. Now draw another rectangle for the screen with the Tool. And place it how we have palced.
Now fill the following gradient setting:
The color of the right side needs to be: “000000”.
The color of the left side needs to be: “61605C”.
The angle of 110 degrees.

(The result should look like this)

6. Get your Rounded Rectangle Tool again and make a small, wide selection. Also, use Inner Shadow in the layer style box, to make it similar to the one in this image.
The settings used for Inner Shadow:
Distance: 2 px
Size: 2 px
Angle: 120

7. Once again, make a shape with the rounded rectangle. This time, it needs to be more like a square instead of a rectangle. Place it in the empty space below the screen, in the middle. Give it the standard black-to-white gradient, with a 150 degrees angle.
Bring up the layer styles menu, and give the following Bevel and Emboss settings:
Depth: 250
Direction: UP
Size: 5 px
Soften: 0

8. Now draw once again the same rectangle but this time a little smaller. And fill it with black color. Place it on the pervious rectangle. This is how it should be.

9. Ok so now your next step would be placing the red buttons. The first buttons we will make are rounded rectangles and its very easy to make them. Get your Rounded Rectangle tool once again and make small rectangle and place them like this:

10. Now we will make the arrow. First up are the arrow buttons. Get your free shape tool (you can find it in the shapes menu) and pick the hollow arrow. Now make a small arrow to the right. Copy this layer, and rotate it by pressing crtl+t. Follow the same step for the other arrows.
11. Now with your Text Tool write OK of font size12. And place it in the center, as we have place:

12. At last, the two other buttons. These are the most annoying buttons on the phone.
We will start with the one in the left corner. I have drawn them with Pen Tool.
If you find it difficult to make a shape like these buttons, I suggest you copy
them into your own piece. The button I mean, is the one in the left corner.
Same way will make the last button, the one in the right corner.

13. Last thing that will finish this phone is the LG logo. Now, we can make it ourselves but due
to time, we can just got the logo from internet and use that one. I suggest using the last
option. You need to place the logo in the middle between the top of the screen and the rectangle
above the screen. Like this:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

Photoshop Tutorial

Summary:
In this tutorial, we’ll learn to create depth with curves. This is especially useful for when you want to enhance a photograph.

Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open the image you want to improve:

2. Press Ctrl+M to call curves dialog:

3. Under button “Options” there are three droppers. We’ll start our adjustments from them. But before that we’ll need to find out the darkest and the lightest areas of your image. While the lightest areas are usually easy to find, the darkest ones can cause a problem if the image quality is really low. In that case you can take this easy step: go to Image>Adjustments>Threshold. Move the slider to the left and you’ll see the image disappearing as the slider moves. And here’s the secret: the last areas to go are the darkest ones on your image! Take a mental note on their locations, cancel the Threshold dialog and return to Curves by pressing Ctrl+M.

4. Select the black dropper and click on the darkest area of your image. You’ll notice the improvements in image immediately:

5. Now select the white dropper and click on the lightest area of your image.

6. Now we’ll work with the middle dropper, which will remove overcast color, if we have any. With this dropper selected, click on the grey area of your image (or at least the closest to the grey you can find). It might take few trys before you’ll find the point that would be just right for you but it really worth it!

7. Now we can move on to our last step! Click in approximate center of that diagonal line and slightly move it up or down. The trick here is not to overdo it so watch your image changing very close while you making this adjustment.
