Summary:
Here is a fun little tutorial that allows you to change windows so that they are frosted over and no longer completely transparent. In this Photoshop tutorial, we will learn how to apply a frosted window effect to any glass window or surface.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open a photograph of a person or object behind a window or glass. Name this layer “Photo”.

2. Create a new layer. Name it “Frost”.
3. Select the Polygonal Lasso tool. Create a selection around the window or glass area that you want to frost.
4. Using the Paint Bucket tool, fill the selection with black.

5. Goto Filter > Distort > Glass.
6. Set the Glass properties to the following:

7. Set the “Frost” layer to Multiply.

8. Adjust the Opacity slider for the “Frost” layer down to 40%.

9. Select the eraser tool, zoom in and erase any area of the frost that is not covering the window.

10. With “Frost” layer active, goto Filter > Blur > Gausian Blur.
11. Set the Radius pixel slider just a little bit to give a small amount of blur. Not too much or the frost won’t show up.
12. Click OK and you should now have your frosted window.
